Summer Reading for Middle School: Heather Brewer

Thirteen-year-old half-vampire Vladimir Tod struggles to navigate the ups and downs of eighth grade while keeping his untested powers and impulses under control.

While half-vampire Vlad, his best friend Henry, and Henry's cousin Joss make their way through their freshman year at Bathory High, a hired vampire slayer seeks to destroy Vlad.

Tenth grade does not bring any relief to Vlad who is finding it increasingly difficult to resist feeding on his classmates and to avoid the evil vampire D'Ablo who wants to drain his powers.

Vladimir Tod, a teenage half-vampire, approaches Dorian, a powerful vampire, in search of help, and when Joss returns to Bathory with orders from the Slayer Society to eliminate his former friend, Vlad is forced to use all of his skills to survive his junior year of high school.

The Council of Elders, having been informed that Tomas still lives, puts off Vlad's execution, providing Vlad the opportunity to try to set some things right.
