Esther de Berdt Reed was an English-born American woman who formed the Ladies of Philadelphia, a coalition of women dedicated to the cause of independence during the American Revolutionary War.

Benedict Arnold's misuse of his military position and his wife's Torrey sympathies made the couple many enemies. Esther Reed was an unselfish patriot. She organized the Ladies Association of Philadelphia.
